Tesla charging history export

# Export Tesla charging history to CSV or PDF

Turn charging sessions into a reusable record with date, location, kWh, cost basis and review status — while keeping estimates separate from billed transactions.

<!-- AEO-US-BEGIN -->
## Quick answer: How do you export Tesla charging history?

For reimbursement, bookkeeping or analysis, use a structured export with **date, location, kWh and cost or pricing basis**. That preserves the evidence behind totals.

DriveQuery is designed to make Tesla charging sessions available in reusable CSV/PDF reporting workflows.

## Questions this page answers

- Can Tesla charging history be exported to CSV?
- What should a charging report include?
- Can home and public charging remain distinguishable?

What an export should look like

## Same charging data. Two useful outputs.

CSV and PDF should come from the same reviewed session records, but serve different jobs.

## What can you download from Tesla today?

Tesla already provides useful charging data. The important point is that it is spread across different views depending on how and where the vehicle was charged.

| Tesla source | Useful today | Where a unified export still helps |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Charge Stats** | Charging history graphs, energy, estimated spend, location types and charging trends. | It is an analytics view, not one normalized session-level CSV across every charging source. |
| **Registered Wall Connector** | Tesla says the app can show 12 months of charging sessions with duration and delivered kWh. | The history belongs to that Wall Connector, not necessarily every place the vehicle charges. |
| **Supercharging history** | Charging transactions and downloadable invoices by date, vehicle and file type. | It covers Tesla Supercharging, not home or third-party charging. |
| **Tesla account data request** | A broader copy of account-associated data that may include Supercharging history and vehicle usage information. | It is a privacy/data-access workflow, not a recurring monthly report. |

**DriveQuery's job is not to pretend Tesla has no charging data.**
The useful layer is to normalize relevant charging records around the vehicle, preserve where each cost came from and make the result reusable outside a single app view.

## What should a Tesla charging CSV contain?

A useful export needs enough detail to explain both the energy and the money. One row should represent one reviewed charging session.

### When

Date, start time, end time and duration.

### Where

Charging location plus your own label such as Home, Office or Client A.

### Energy

Charged kWh and the measurement source when that distinction matters.

### Cost

Session cost, price basis and whether the amount is estimated, billed or entered.

| Field | Why it belongs in the export |
| --- | --- |
| Date + start/end time | Lets you group sessions by accounting period and price them correctly when rates change by time of day. |
| Charging location + user label | Separates home, work, Supercharging and other public charging in language that means something to you. |
| Energy (kWh) | Provides the energy basis for cost and efficiency analysis. |
| Price basis | Shows whether the cost came from a fixed rate, time-of-use period, variable rate, invoice or another documented source. |
| Session cost + cost status | Keeps estimated home charging separate from final billed transactions. |
| Vehicle + review status | Supports multi-vehicle use and makes unresolved sessions visible before a report is closed. |

## Estimated cost and billed cost are not the same evidence

Estimated**Home charging**

kWh × configured utility rate or TOU period.

→

Billed**Supercharger**

Final transaction or downloadable Tesla invoice.

→

Entered**Other public charging**

A receipt or cost entered from another charging provider.

A trustworthy report should never silently convert those three sources into one undifferentiated number. The total can be combined, but the **cost provenance** should remain visible.

## CSV and PDF solve different jobs

### For analysis

Filter by location, sum kWh by month, compare utility rates, reconcile invoices or continue the work in Excel, Google Sheets or accounting software.

**Best structure:** stable columns, consistent dates and one session per row.

### For review

Put the period, vehicle, energy and cost totals first, then retain enough session detail for an employer, finance team or your own archive to understand the numbers.

**Best structure:** summary first, evidence underneath.

## US home electricity rates need time context

A fixed utility rate is simple: energy multiplied by the applicable rate. Time-of-use plans need more context because the same kWh can cost a different amount depending on when charging happened. Some utilities also use seasonal or more variable pricing.

### Fixed rate

One energy rate for the relevant period. Simple to calculate and easy to audit.

### Time-of-use

Start/end time matters. A session can cross peak and off-peak periods.

### Variable rate

When prices change more frequently, interval-level energy and price data may be needed for a meaningful estimate.

This is why charging history connects naturally to [rate-aware smart charging](https://drivequery.com/us/smart-charging/): one chooses a cheaper charging window; the other lets you verify what actually happened.

## Vehicle kWh and utility-bill kWh can differ

Energy can be measured at different points. A Wall Connector measures energy delivered through the charger, vehicle data reflects the car's side of the session, and the home meter measures electricity imported by the property. Charging losses, battery conditioning and other vehicle loads can create differences.

For personal cost tracking, a vehicle-centered record can be useful. For a reimbursement process that requires a particular meter or utility-bill basis, that required source should remain the source of truth.

## Where a charging export becomes useful

### Home-charging reimbursement

Filter the relevant home sessions, apply the agreed pricing basis and retain the session detail behind the monthly total.

[Home charging cost →](https://drivequery.com/us/tesla-home-charging-cost/)

### Monthly reconciliation

Compare estimated home costs with utility statements and billed Supercharger or third-party charging transactions.

### Rate-plan verification

See whether home charging actually landed in the off-peak periods your schedule was intended to use.

[Smart charging →](https://drivequery.com/us/smart-charging/)

### Cost per mile

Connect charging cost to trip distance instead of analyzing energy in isolation.

## Tesla account data request vs. a recurring export

Tesla lets account holders request a copy of data associated with their Tesla Account. Tesla says the data may include Supercharging history and vehicle usage information. That is useful for account data access and archiving.

A monthly operating report is a different workflow. DriveQuery's planned export is intended to start from charging sessions captured for ongoing history, let the user review exceptions, then close a reporting period and export the result.

## A sensible charging-export workflow

### Capture

Keep the session time, vehicle, location and energy together.

### Classify

Apply a meaningful place label and identify the charging source.

### Price

Attach the applicable utility rate, invoice or other documented cost basis.

### Review

Keep partial data, unknown costs or sessions crossing rate periods visible instead of guessing.

### Close & export

Lock the period totals while preserving the session rows underneath.

## What DriveQuery is being built to add

- Vehicle-centered charging sessions across relevant charging locations.
- User-defined place labels instead of relying only on generic categories.
- Utility-rate-aware estimated costs for home charging.
- A visible distinction between estimated, billed and manually entered costs.
- Period totals that remain traceable to individual sessions.
- Planned CSV for analysis and PDF for review or archiving.
- Links between charging cost and trip distance for cost-per-mile analysis.

**Early-access note:**
The charging export workflow is being validated. Exact fields, report layouts and file formats may change before general availability.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I export Tesla charging history directly from the Tesla app?

Tesla provides several charging-data views, but not one universal vehicle-level CSV export for every charging source. Charge Stats is an analytics view, a registered Wall Connector can show 12 months of session history, and Supercharger invoices can be downloaded separately.

### Can I download Tesla Supercharger invoices?

Yes. Tesla says owners can open Charging History in the Tesla app and download Supercharging invoices by date, vehicle and file type.

### What should a Tesla charging CSV contain?

A useful session-level CSV should include date, start and end time, location, energy, price basis, cost status, session cost and vehicle. User labels and review status make the file easier to reconcile.

### Why should estimated and billed charging costs be separated?

A home charging cost may be calculated from an electricity rate, while a Supercharger amount can come from a final invoice. Keeping the cost source visible prevents estimates from looking like billed transactions.

### Can Tesla account data replace a monthly charging export?

A Tesla account data request can include information such as Supercharging history and vehicle usage data, but it is a privacy and data-access process rather than a repeatable monthly reporting workflow.

### Is DriveQuery charging export available now?

DriveQuery is in early access. The planned export workflow is designed to turn captured charging sessions into structured CSV and review-friendly PDF reports while preserving the source and confidence of each cost figure.
