SCE TOU-D-PRIME is designed for eligible EV and electrification customers. SCE advises charging outside 4–9 p.m.; winter includes an 8 a.m.–4 p.m. super-off-peak period.
For SCE TOU-D-PRIME, Southern California Edison tells EV customers to charge outside the 4–9 p.m. high-cost period. In winter (October–May), SCE shows an 8 a.m.–4 p.m. super-off-peak period; summer weekday 4–9 p.m. is the on-peak period.

Why “charge overnight” is not always the complete answer
TOU-D-PRIME is designed around electrification, but the lowest period can differ by season. A user who can charge during the daytime may have a different cheapest window from someone who only plugs in after work. The checker compares the available window with the kWh your EV actually needs.
TOU-D-PRIME is not the only SCE plan
SCE also offers residential TOU plans with 4–9 p.m. or 5–8 p.m. high-price windows. Use the exact plan shown on your bill rather than assuming every SCE customer has the same schedule.
