Quick answer · data method

What does the live charging map actually show?

DriveQuery requests public charging locations for the current map viewport. With Automatic by zoom, a country-level overview requests 150+ kW chargers first; zooming in progressively reveals 100+, 50+, 22+ kW and finally all recorded chargers.

Cross-border

The data request follows the visible map area rather than a UK country boundary.

Published prices only

DriveQuery compares a kWh price only when the source states one clearly. Missing price never means free.

Freshness

Method and sources checked 28 August 2026. The live map shows the retrieval time for the current viewport.

Source: Open Charge Map, normalised by DriveQuery. Coverage and status can lag the real charger network, so this is a discovery map rather than guaranteed live availability.

Find, then decide

“EV charging near me” should end with a charger you can actually use.

Use your location, compare distance and recorded maximum power, then filter by connector or operator. The map refreshes open charging data as you move. The page starts in the UK, but panning toward Ireland or continental Europe loads chargers across the border instead of stopping at the national boundary.

Nearest

Share your location and DriveQuery ranks chargers by straight-line distance. You can also move the map manually without sharing location.

Fastest

Rank the current map area by recorded maximum charging power. Actual charging speed still depends on the car, battery state and charger conditions.

Cheapest — only when the price is explicit

Open charging data often has incomplete pricing. DriveQuery only uses Cheapest when the source states a clear price per kWh; a missing price never means free charging.

Need a Tesla Supercharger?

Open the dedicated Tesla Supercharger map to load the UK Tesla network directly. Tesla says site pricing can change and the current price is shown in the Tesla app or vehicle navigation, so DriveQuery does not invent a price when open data has none.

What will charging actually cost?

After finding a charger, compare the charging cost with home charging and EV tariffs.

Quick answer

How do I find an EV charger near me?

The charging map works without an account. Share your browser location or move the map manually, then filter by charging power, connector, network and researched amenities. Sharing your location is optional.

Charging Stop Intelligence

Choose a charging stop for what you can do there, not only its kW rating.

DriveQuery researches the area around charging locations separately from the charger feed. Confirmed amenities are shown as evidence-backed stop data; missing information stays unknown.

Toilets, coffee, food and 24/7

Filter researched charging stops by confirmed toilet, coffee, food or round-the-clock services.

StopScore

StopScore summarises how well a stop suits a quick break, meal, family, work, late night or leisure using confirmed stop data.

Verified charging prices

When a current tariff can be verified, DriveQuery shows the source and conditions. A missing price never means free.

Better stops on a route

The EV route planner can consider amenities, opening hours at arrival and verified price for technically valid alternatives without relaxing charging constraints.
